Deirdre Alden and Edgbaston residents save popular children's playground

Monday, 25 April, 2016

Popular local Councillor Deirdre Alden has successfully saved a playground on the Benmore council estate from closure by the Labour-led Birmingham City Council.

Deirdre stood up for local residents by demanding the City Council to refrain from closing 21 playgrounds in the Birmingham area, including one in the Edgbaston ward.

Here's what she said:

“Where are the children who live in the tower blocks supposed to play? I cannot believe the callous attitude of the Labour councillors in voting for this. I know the council needs to make savings but the Conservative budget suggested many other areas where they could be made.”

Well done Deirdre! She's a phenomenal councillor and we're lucky to have her as a representative of the constituency.
