John has been Cabinet Member for Housing on Birmingham City Council since June 2004.  He is a councillor for Bartley Green Ward and married to Kathleen.  Their son Bruce is also a Bartley Green councillor. Between 2012-2013 John served as Lord Mayor of Birmingham.
